New Canaan Police To Crack Down On Distracted Driving In April
New Canaan police will have additional patrols targeting distracted drivers in April, according to officials.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan police will step up enforcement efforts in April as they participate in the 2024 Distracted Driving Grant.
In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said additional enforcement will take place April 1-30 in honor of Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
In partnership with state and local law enforcement and the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the campaign will step up enforcement efforts to enforce distracted-driving laws, DeFelice said.

"Distracted driving crashes are preventable," DeFelice said in a news release. "Driving should be a person's number one priority behind the wheel."
The New Canaan Police Department also urges motorists to put their phone down when they get behind the wheel, DeFelice said.
