Some of the most common crimes in our town include stolen vehicles, theft from vehicles, larceny, identity theft, fraud, and burglary. While NCPD officers conduct thorough investigations and patrol the community 24/7, we also rely on the vigilance and cooperation of our residents to help prevent crime.

Free Security Assessments & Fraud Prevention Presentations: To support crime prevention efforts, the NCPD offers complimentary security assessments and fraud prevention presentations for residents and business owners. These services provide valuable crime prevention strategies to enhance safety and reduce risk.

Using the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), trained Crime Prevention Officers can visit homes or businesses to conduct security assessments. They will evaluate the property’s exterior—and interior if requested—and offer expert recommendations to improve security.

Many of these tips involve simple, low-cost measures that can make a significant difference in protecting your property.

Schedule Your Security Assessment: To schedule a security assessment, contact the NCPD’s Community Impact Officer, Roy Adams, at 203-989-6050 (call or text). Working together, we can continue to make New Canaan a safer place to live and work.
