NEW CANAAN, CT — In light of Amazon Prime days this week, New Canaan police have offered tips for residents to keep their packages safe from porch pirates.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, police provided the following tips to ensure packages in town are safe and secure:

1. You can request the delivery driver to drop off the package to a specific area and location around the property that is not so visible from the street.

2. Amazon Hubs are secure locations where the packages can be delivered in convenient locations for you to pick up your packages. This can be requested at checkout.

3. Ask a trustworthy neighbor or friend to grab your package if not home for an extended period of time.

4. Make sure exterior cameras are functioning and recording in case a package was taken, to assist with the investigation and getting a speedy refund or replacement.

"Hopefully these online shopping tips will bring many successfully received packages to your door or hub location," police said on Facebook.
