K9 Lito, a 19- month-old German Shepard from Slovakia, was recently welcomed into the New Canaan Police Department.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Police Department announced Monday the addition of its newest officer, K9 Lito.
In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said Lito and Officer Sebastian Obando began their training at the K9 Academy in April and have since successfully completed all their certifications, making them ready for active patrol.
Lito, a 19- month-old German Shepard from Slovakia, was named by Obando in honor of his late father, Raul Obando, who was lovingly referred to as "MigueLITO" by his family, according to DeFelice.
