New Canaan Police Will Crack Down On Distracted Driving In April
A campaign that involves officers patrolling streets in marked and unmarked vehicles to look for distracted drivers will run April 1-20.

NEW CANAAN, CT — For most of April, the New Canaan Police Department will look for distracted drivers through an increased enforcement campaign, the department announced.
Titled the "Distracted Driving High Visibility Enforcement" campaign, the initiative involves officers patrolling the streets in marked and unmarked vehicles to look for distracted driving behaviors — like texting while driving — and taking appropriate enforcement action.
The initiative, which the Connecticut Department of Transportation approved, will run from April 1-20, New Canaan police said.

Along with the campaign announcement, the department posted a Connecticut Department of Transportation news release from last fall, announcing that fees for texting while driving would increase.
