New Canaan Records 23 New Coronavirus Cases

Connecticut also hit a grim milestone of 11,000 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Connecticut COVID-19 infection rates have been trending downward over the past few weeks, which mirrors trends during the past two years as the virus somewhat recedes during summer months.

Still, highly-contagious omicron subvariants are present in Connecticut and more than 100 towns are in the state's highest warning level for COVID-19 infections. Connecticut also hit a grim milestone of 11,000 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.

New Canaan had 24 average daily cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 17.00 percent between May 29 and June 11, according to the state Department of Public Health. There were 30.4 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period.

It’s important to note that a few cases can have a large impact on a municipal case rate, especially for small towns.

New Canaan recorded 23 new coronavirus cases between June 10-16, according to DPH’s preliminary data.
