New Canaan Residents Urged Not To Bring Dogs To Fireworks

According to New Canaan Animal Control, dogs can be very sensitive to firework noise and vibrations, causing them to stress and panic.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Animal Control reminds residents with dogs to take precautions to secure their dogs inside during firework season, especially during the July 4th weekend.

In an email to Patch, Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm stressed dogs can be very sensitive to firework noise and vibrations, causing the animals to stress and sometimes panic.

"It is recommended that dogs do not attend firework festivities," Halm said in an email. "Most fireworks take place after dark, so exercise your dog early in the day and keep them in a safe location indoors after dusk."
