New Canaan Student Nominated For 2023 McDonald's All American Games

A New Canaan student is among six Connecticut athletes nominated to play in the 2023 McDonald's All American Games.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A New Canaan student is among six Connecticut athletes nominated to play in the 2023 McDonald's All American Games.

This week, McDonald's revealed its list of more than 720 top high school basketball stars from across the country that have been nominated to play in the 2023 games, according to a news release.

Among the six Connecticut athletes selected by McDonald's this year is Mackenzie Nelson, a student at St. Luke's School in New Canaan. Other Connecticut nominees include students from Hamden, Fairfield, Southbury and Windsor.

Players were nominated by a high school coach, athletic director, principal or member of the McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee.

The final roster of 48 players, comprised of the top 24 girls and 24 boys, will be revealed Jan. 24 on "NBA Today" between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on ESPN and announced across ESPN's various social and digital platforms, according to McDonald's.

The 2023 McDonald's All American Girls Game will air March 28 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The boys game will immediately follow on ESPN at 9 p.m.
