New Canaan to Celebrate Books, Blues & BBQ

You've only got two weeks left to get a ticket to the New Canaan Library's second-annual Books, Blues & BBQ event.

"This is our second annual benefit," said the New Canaan Library's Director of Annual Fundraising Kathryn Wells. "It's our biggest benefit of the year and all proceeds help the library."

Coming on Friday, June 7, the festival will feature music from the returning Tangled Vines, who were a big bit last years and are sponsored by School of Rock this year. School of Rock will also have students performing during intermission.

Barbeque for the evening will be catered by Uncle Willie's BBQ. Newcomers to the event include New Canaan's Strawberry & Sage, who will be providing desserts, and Stamford's Half Full Brewery.

Last year, around 200 people attended the "cowboy casual" event. This year, Wells said they're already surpassed those ticket sales and there are still two weeks to go.

"The party is going to be much bigger than last year's. We're expecting a sell-out crowd," Wells said. "It reinforces our mission to be the intellectual, social and cultural center in the community."
