New Director Of Innovation, Technology Appointed By New Canaan Public Schools
In her new role, she will lead the utilization of emerging technologies across the district's programs, including A.I. and The Dome.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Public Schools announced Monday that Melinda Meyer has been appointed as the district's new director of innovation and technology.
According to a news release provided by the district, Meyer will begin her new position Nov. 1.
"Melinda has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering creativity, innovation and excellence in our schools," Superintendent Bryan Luizzi said in a news release. "Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing our science programs and integrating innovative practices that prepare students for success in an ever-evolving world. We're thrilled to see her step into this new role and continue her work expanding innovation and leading technology for our students."

According to the district, Meyer has been a dedicated member of the New Canaan Public Schools community for more than two decades.
She began her career with the district in 2000 as an intern at Saxe Middle School, where she was hired the following year as a science teacher.

In 2006, she was named the district's K-8 science coordinator, later becoming co-chair of New Canaan High School's science department in 2018.
In 2022, she was appointed as the district's director of innovation, establishing the district's Vision of Innovation, which serves as a unifying framework for design-thinking mindsets and K-12 instructional practice, revitalizing the middle school's Design & Think Labs and establishing the district's Innovation Steering Committee, according to New Canaan Public Schools.
Moving into her new role, Meyer will oversee the district's continued work around design and innovation, focusing on forward-thinking technology initiatives, instructional programs and the integration of emerging platforms, such as the district's ongoing work with artificial intelligence (A.I.) and New Canaan High School's immersive learning theater, The Dome, according to the district.
"I'm honored and excited to continue this important work with our incredible educators and students," Meyer said in a news release. "Innovation and technology are deeply intertwined with how we teach and learn, and I look forward to helping our district continue to lead in creating meaningful, future-focused learning experiences."
Meyer has a bachelor of science in marine science from Southampton College of Long Island University and a master of arts in teaching from Sacred Heart University.
