Norwalk Man Arrested by Stamford Police, Turned Over to New Canaan

Stamford Police arrested a Norwalk man on two warrants out of New Canaan and delivered the suspect to town police Friday night, according to New Canaan authorities.

According to New Canaan authorities, Efrain H. Depaz, 40, of Prospect Street in Norwalk, had two failure to appear warrants out for his arrest stemming from a motor vehicle stop in Dec. of 2001 and an alleged forgery incident in November 2002.

Police said Depaz was issued a first-degree failure to appear charge on April 21, 2003, for allegedly never showing up to court following a Nov. 16, 2002 incident in which he was charged with second-degree forgery. Police said he posted a $10,000 bond on those charges.

Depaz also never showed up for an April 21, 2003 court date regarding a motor vehicle stop he was involved in on Dec. 4, 2001, in which he was charged with improper marker, operating under suspension, failure to use a turn signal, emissions and failure to maintain the minimum required insurance. He was also charged at that time with two counts of failure to appear. Police said he posted a $2,000 bond on those charges.

Stamford police turned Depaz over to New Canaan authorities, who issued him a March 27 court date.
