A South Salem man was arrested in New Canaan following a physical altercation with his girlfriend in which he allegedly pushed her to the ground and caused injuries to her face, police said this week.
According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, officers responded to the municipal lot near Elm Street and Park Street on Friday, August 16, following multiple reports of an altercation between a man and a woman. Ogrinc said they discovered John S. Positano, 37, of 187 Laurel Ridge in South Salem, NY, with his girlfriend.
Three separate witnesses corroborate information on the alleged assault, saying a verbal argument between the two turned physical and Positano allegedly pushed the woman down, causing her face to strike the ground.
Ogrinc said, upon police arrival, the victim had bruises to her arm and blood on her face. She declined medical attention.
Positano was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to appear in court this week after posting a $1,000 bond.
