Yes.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Previous public office, appointive or elective:

Yes. Youth Commission 3 years (2 years as Chairman), Park and Recreation Commission 4 years (2 years as Chairman), Board of Education 8 years (2 years as Vice Chairman).

Why are you seeking this office?

I grew up in New Canaan and I really appreciate what New Canaan offers. I want it to remain as close to the place I grew up as possible for coming generations. the best way I know to do that is to continue to give back.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:

There are a few key issues facing New Canaan, like managing affordable housing, the increasing cost of living in New Canaan and keeping the Schools great but the single most important issue that the Town Council oversees is the budget process. I intend to work with due diligence and transparency to spend responsibly and prioritize those items that make New Canaan the great place it is.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have lived in New Canaan most all of my life, I attended West Elementary, Saxe Middle, and New Canaan High Schools. I have an office in the downtown area. I have served on the Park and Recreation Commission, The Youth Commission and the Board of Education and held leadership positions on all. This broad range of experiences gives me a well rounded knowledge base from which to draw.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

The Town charter is up for review. I think the budget process needs a serious review to ensure the elected officials have more input than the appointed ones.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have run a small company for most of my working life and as mentioned I have held leadership positions on many commissions and boards in New Canaan and in industry.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

My father used to say tow things that have stuck with me. "Keep your eye upon the donut not upon the hole" and "there is no substitute for hard work".

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I plan to work hard, listen, be colaborative and approach things with empathy and humor.
