Pets Rescued From House Fire In New Canaan: FD
Firefighters responded to a report of a residential fire in New Canaan on Sunday.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Pets were rescued from a home in New Canaan Sunday evening after fire officials say a blaze broke out in a three-car garage.
The New Canaan Fire Department responded to a residential fire alarm in the 120 block of Luke's Wood Road at 6:45 p.m. on May 11, fire officials said in a news release.
Arriving units found a fire underneath the structure of a three-car garage, the NCFD said. The occupant of the home arrived on scene and confirmed only pets were inside.

The interior of the garage and a vehicle in the garage were damaged by the fire, according to fire officials, and the interior of the home had minor smoke damage. The fire department said a code-compliant properly working fire door between the garage and the kitchen limited potential fire damage to the interior.
The NCFD credited working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with alerting 911 dispatch.
"Although the occupants were not home when the fire started, properly working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors transmitted the alarm to an alarm monitoring company that dispatched the fire department within minutes of detecting the problem," the NCFD said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
