Police Cracking Down On Distracted Driving In New Canaan
New Canaan police will have additional patrols targeting distracted drivers as part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Police will have additional patrols around New Canaan targeting distracted drivers throughout the month of April as part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said Wednesday the dates of additional enforcement throughout town are April 1-30, 2025.
In partnership with the state and local law enforcement, and the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the campaign will step up enforcement efforts to enforce distracted-driving laws, according to DeFelice.

"Distracted driving crashes are preventable," DeFelice said in a news release. "Driving should be a person's number one priority behind the wheel."
New Canaan police urge drivers to put their phone down when they get behind the wheel, DeFelice said.
