NEW CANAAN, CT — Police have identified a man who was found dead in a wooded area of New Canaan early Tuesday morning.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said the man has been identified as Santos Eujedo Perez, a Stamford resident.

DeFelice also noted the investigation is still ongoing and "there is no indication of foul play" at this time. He also emphasized there is no danger to the community.

In a news release Tuesday, DeFelice said New Canaan officers began assisting Stamford police in a missing persons investigation late Monday evening.

Perez had last been seen working at a New Canaan house under renovation Monday afternoon, according to DeFelice.

Stamford and New Canaan police found Perez in a wooded area of town just after midnight on Tuesday. He was declared deceased by a Norwalk Hospital paramedic, DeFelice said.

State police are assisting New Canaan police in this ongoing investigation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has also been notified, DeFelice said.
