Police Investigating Fake $100 Passed Off in New Canaan

Police are investigating a fake $100 bill passed off at a New Canaan store last week.

Two females reportedly purchased $29 worth of snack food from Walter Stewarts Market on Elm Street on March 22 at approximately 4:20 p.m. One handed the cashier a $100 bill and received $71 worth of change. That bill turned out to be a fake.

Police are searching for two white female suspects. One with long black hair who had been wearing a red shirt, black boat and blue jeans and carrying a black pocketbook. The other had shoulder-length brown hair, white pants, a long-sleeve black shirt, blue vest and pink scarf.

Police said the pair fled in a grey Toyota Sienna minivan with a black roof rack.
