NEW CANAAN, CT — The town invites the public to review and submit written comments on a recently completed draft of its Plan of Conservation & Development.
Greg Reilly, the town's grant writer and communications associate, said the POCD Sub-Committee recently voted to make a substantially complete draft of the POCD available for review on the town website "after approximately 10 months of plan development and a robust community engagement process."
From July 17 through Sept. 20, the public may submit written comments to Town Planner Sarah Carey at sarah.carey@newcanaanct.gov.

During this time, the Town Council and the Western Connecticut Council of Governments will also review the plan and potentially recommend amendments to it, according to Reilly.
Following the 65-day comment period, the Planning and Zoning Commission will evaluate all comments received from the public, the Town Council and WestCOG for potential inclusion in the plan.

A final public hearing will be then held where the commission will vote on the plan's adoption, according to Reilly.
That public hearing date will be finalized later this summer, and is anticipated to be scheduled for the end of September or early October. Ample notice will be provided to the public to ensure those wishing to attend in person or via zoom are able to do so, Reilly said.
