NEW CANAAN, CT — Recent death notices from New Canaan.

Frederick Arnold Hovey, 86, of New Canaan: Fritz enjoyed a long, successful career as an electrical engineer, starting at Westinghouse and ultimately spending three decades with Sylvania/Philips Electronics.

Georgette Ferrante, 91, of New Canaan: She grew up in Greenwich and also lived in Texas, Utah and New Jersey. Her final years were happily spent at Waveny Inn in New Canaan, where she established and led the current events discussion group.

Raechelle Freeman, 80, of New Canaan: Remembered locally as Shelley Dinan, a career speech pathologist and special education teacher for New Canaan Public Schools, she came to New Canaan during the 1969-70 academic year to provide speech services for Center and East Schools.

John Tewksbury Banigan, 75, of New Canaan: He began his career at Chemical Bank in New York City and moved to San Francisco before starting a thirteen year chapter of living, working, and traveling internationally in Mexico City and Hong Kong.
