Registration Stop Results in Ticket for Pot Possession
Smoke pot and drive? Some advice (aside from "Don't."): Obey all the traffic rules and don't leave your pipe in plain view.

A 20-year-old Darien man driving in downtown New Canaan was stopped by a town police officer at 11 p.m. on Sunday, according to police, who gave this account of the incident:
As he was driving behind the car on Cherry Street, officer noticed that the car’s registration had expired, so he stopped the vehicle.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed a pipe in or near a cup holder of the center console. The officer found what appeared to be residue from THC oil, the active ingredient in marijuana.

No contraband was found on the driver himself, but in a backpack in the car there was a butane torch, a glass bong and two small containers that held hash oil and THC oil in a plastic bag.
The young man was charged with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued an infraction ticket.

New Canaan Patch doesn’t report the names of those issued infraction tickets, unless they’re illegally passing a school bus or the incident is otherwise newsworthy. But other publications do, especially when it comes to possession of marijuana, which is one good reason to follow the advice above.
