Resurfacing Planned For These New Canaan Roads In Late July

The town plans to resurface the following roads in New Canaan "beginning on or about July 24," 2024.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The town plans to resurface a number of roads in New Canaan "beginning on or about July 24," 2024.

In a July 8 letter posted to the town website, Director of Public Works Tiger Mann said microsurfacing will be applied to the roads in two passes over two consecutive days on or after July 24, weather permitting.

This will include an initial "leveling course" followed by a "wearing course," according to Mann.

The following New Canaan roads are currently scheduled for a micro-thin overlay:

  • Apple Tree Lane - Ramhorne Road
  • Bald Hill Road - Rilling Ridge
  • Fox Run Road - Turtle Back Lane East
  • Journey's End Road - Turtle Back Lane West
  • Partridge Road - Turtle Back Road
  • Pequot Lane

Each course will require up to 20 minutes to cure and be ready for traffic. Microsurfacing work will be limited to between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day to reduce the impact on residents of the short-term closures waiting for the material to dry, Mann said.

If a potential 20-minute delay in exiting or entering a resident's driveway will adversely affect their scheduled activities, the town suggests they make arrangements to park on a neighboring street while their street is being treated, according to Mann.
