Retired New Canaan Doctor Reprimanded
The physician was accused of prescribing medicine to herself, family members without performing exams, keeping medical records.
(Editor's note: a previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Wagner-Reiss surrendered her state registration to prescribe controlled substances.)
The state Medical Examining Board has reprimanded a retired New Canaan physician who was accused of prescribing a narcotic-based cough medicine to her family without conducting physical exams or maintaing medical records for them.
Retired pathologist Katherine Wagner-Reiss was reprimanded, according to The Advocate. She was accused of prescribing the cough medicine to herself, her husband and two adult children between 2012 and 2014, according to the report.
Her lawyer appealed to the board not to discipline Wagner-Reiss because she was unaware of a requirement that medical records were needed for family members for whom she wrote the prescriptions, according to The Advocate story that can be found here.
