Road Closures Announced By New Canaan Public Works

The following road closures in New Canaan were announced Wednesday by the Department of Public Works.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The following road closures in New Canaan were announced Wednesday by the Department of Public Works.

In a post on the town website, DPW asked residents to be aware of the following road closures:

  • Harrison Avenue at South Avenue: Eversource Gas will be removing a purge valve. The road will be open to one-way traffic.
  • North Wilton Road (between Michigan Road and Rte. 123): DPW will be performing drainage improvements. Motorists are asked to use the short spur on Michigan Road for a detour.
  • Turner Hill Road: DPW will be removing storm debris from the Aug. 18 storm. The road will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Motorists are asked to use Ferris Hill for a detour.
  • Forest Street (from East Avenue to Locust Avenue): Eversource Electric will be upgrading the electrical grid in the downtown. Closure is nightly, Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. for the next two weeks.
  • Silvermine Road (Rte .106) (from Carter Street/Canoe Hill Road to Valley Road): Aquarion Water will be installing a 36" watermain. Closure is daily, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 15. Motorists are asked to use the Ferris Hill Road Detour.
