Road Work Planned For This Week In New Canaan: DPW

The following road work is planned for the week of June 17, 2024 in New Canaan, according to the Department of Public Works.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Work on a new basketball court, sidewalk installation and other road work is scheduled to take place in New Canaan this week, according to the Department of Public Works.

The following road work is planned for the week of June 17, 2024 in New Canaan, according to the town website:

Crack Sealing: All crack sealing work has been delayed approximately one (1) week. The contractor should resume next week, weather permitting.

East Elementary School: Contractors will continue sidewalk and curbing installation at East School primarily in the traffic circle at the entrance to the school. The traffic circle and Little Brook Road are scheduled to be paved prior to school re-opening in late August. Work is planned to continue throughout the summer.

West Elementary School: Contractors will begin sidewalk and curbing installation at West School in the traffic circle at the entrance to the school and throughout the entire parking lot. The traffic circle and parking lot are scheduled to be paved prior to school re-opening in late August. Work is planned to continue throughout the summer.

Saxe Basketball Court: Contractors will begin installation of a new basketball court and appurtenances at Saxe School. The court is scheduled to be paved and coated prior to school re-opening in late August. Work is planned to continue throughout the Summer. The court will be closed during the construction period.

Locust Avenue and Lumberyard Parking Lots: Both parking lots are scheduled to be resurfaced the week of 6/24/24 weather permitting. Each lot will be closed during resurfacing and should be open the day after. Work is slated to take 1-2 days per lot. Patrons are asked to make alternative arrangements for parking during this time.
