Silvermine Concert to Feature Cellist Matt Haimovitz
Next weekend's concert also will feature the British a cappella trio Voice.

Canadian cellist Matt Haimovitz along with the British a cappella trio Voice, will collaborate on Bach, Glass, Shakespearean sonnets and more in a concert next weekend at the Silvermine Arts Center.
The Shakespearean sonnets have been arranged for voice and cello in honor of the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death. Celebrate the center’s winter “Living Art” event and enjoy a reception of sweets and champagne in the gallery and meet the world-renowned musicians.
Formed in 2006, Voice performs secular and non-secular music from the medieval compositions of Hildegard von Bingen, twenty-first-century commissions, and songs from around the world. Their distinctive sound is driven by individual voices that blend to create beautiful harmonies.
Haimovitz is an Israeli-born cellist, now based in the United States and Canada. He mainly plays a cello made by Matteo Goffriller in 1710. Educated at Harvard and Juilliard, Haimovitz made his debut in 1984, at the age of 13, as soloist with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic. At 17 he made his first recording with James Levine and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, for Deutsche Grammophon. He has gone on to perform with such orchestras and conductors as the Berlin Philharmonic with Levine and the New York Philharmonic with Mehta. He has also recorded a set of complete Bach Suites for Unaccompanied Cello.
Tickets are $60 and include champagne and chocolates with the artists.
