Stamford Man Charged with Marijuana Possession

The arrest occurred on Friday, Oct. 26.

A 21-year-old Stamford man was issued an infraction for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop in New Canaan Friday night, Oct. 26. 

According to police, Alex Garcia was traveling south on New Norwalk Road, near Old Norwalk Road, when an officer spotted his vehicle did not have a front license plate. A New Canaan Police officer then stopped the car on the entrance ramp of the Merritt Parkway.

When speaking with Garcia, the officer detected a "strong odor of marijuana coming out from the vehicle." A subsequent search revealed a small amount of marijuana, plastic bags and a scale.

Garcia was also given a verbal warning for failure to have a front license plate on his vehicle.
