NEW CANAAN, CT — The widely popular free Waveny Summer Concerts program kicks off its 12-week series Wednesday, town officials recently announced.

According to a news release provided by the town, the live music performances run through Sept. 12 with genres ranging from folk, pop and rock to country and big band.

Held on the lawn behind Waveny House where the community and guests gather with their chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the music, shows run Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Rain dates for shows are held Thursdays, town officials said.

The June shows feature "80's to Today" music by The Toom Duffy Band on June 18 and nationally-known country western band Gunsmoke on June 25.

The summer-long concert schedule, along with any day-of-event notices regarding postponements due to weather, is posted at newcanaan.info in the blue bar at the top of the homepage, town officials said.

Waveny Summer Concerts is a program of the town's Recreation Department and is supported by area companies and organizations, town officials noted.
