Teen Ejected From Moped, Seriously Injured In Crash On Route 15 In New Canaan: State Police

State police said a 16-year-old has life-threatening injuries after being ejected from a moped in a crash on Route 15 in New Canaan.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A New Haven teen has life-threatening injuries after being ejected from a moped in a crash Monday afternoon on Route 15 in New Canaan, according to Connecticut State Police.

According to an accident information summary provided by state police, Troop G received reports around 1:30 p.m. of a crash with injuries involving a motorcycle at the Exit 13 off ramp on Route 15 south in New Canaan.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black moped was traveling south on Route 15 when the driver began merging into the de-acceleration lane for the off ramp and lost control of the bike for an unknown reason, according to state police.

A rear passenger was ejected from the moped as a result of the crash and taken to Norwalk Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to state police.

The passenger, a 16-year-old New Haven girl, was later taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for a higher level of care, state police said.
