Water Infrastructure Work To Begin In New Canaan
A water main replacement project is scheduled to start this month in New Canaan, which will result in traffic delays and possible detours.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A water main replacement project is scheduled to start this month in New Canaan, which will result in traffic delays and possible detours, according to the Aquarion Water Company.
In a news release, Aquarion officials said the project is scheduled to begin May 16 on Millport Avenue and Olmstead Court. The project is expected to be completed by the end of June.
Final paving will then be scheduled in coordination with the town, according to the Aquarion.

The project, which will replace approximately 1,300 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion's water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions, according to the company.

"We greatly appreciate residents' patience during this project," Justin Xenelis, Aquarion's manager of utility programs, said in a news release. "We will work closely with our customers, contractors and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize disruptions."
Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Westport-based A.J. Penna & Son Excavating will be serving as the contractor for the water main replacement project.
