I know this community leader from being directly involved with the methadone clinic that she is in charge of which is the APT Foundation Legion Clinic.

What does this community leader do?
This community leader is unique in that she not only administrates and manages the clinic in her position as director; she is also a champion for patient's rights. In the methadone clinic structure having a director who advocates for patients, all patients, not just those who attend Legion Clinic is truly extraordinary Dr. Eggert doesn't run a clinic that takes punitive measures as many others do. Instead she tries to work with clients to get to a solution that conforms to the client's needs.
Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?
Dr. Eggert should be honored due to her integrity and character. The service that she does for the New Haven community is often overlooked and unrecognized. However; without a strong and congenial leader the clinic would not be able to facilitate and treat the amount of clients as they do. The clients respect her leadership and a main reason for that is that Kathy makes herself approachable to everyone. Calls and e-mails are promptly answered whether it be a peer or a client.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?
The one thing I'd like everyone to know is that if it weren't for Kathy Eggert my personal recovery and the recovery of hundreds to thousands more would not be as successful as it has been.
