New Haven Mayor, Schools Superintendent Lead 'Back to School Rally' Thursday Afternoon

At Bowen Field from 2-5 p.m., entertainment, games, school supplies giveaways, 50 community organizations, health screenings, part of rally.

NEW HAVEN, CT — New Haven schools' Superintendent Dr. Madeline Negrón will be joined by Mayor Justin Elicker Thursday in leading the annual Back to School Rally from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bowen Field, adjacent to James Hillhouse High School.

The event features entertainment, games, and giveaways of school supplies. More than 50 community organizations that provide services to New Haven families will participate. Health screenings will be offered.

The rally will also include a short parade, brief speaking program, and a Q&A with Negrón and Elicker.

Also in attendance will be Chief of Youth, Family, and Community Engagement Gemma Joseph Lumpkin.

The rally is organized by the New Haven Public Schools Office of Youth, Family, and Community Engagement.
