1 Day in New London Nets 2 Heroin-Related Arrests

Two separate arrests involving New London residents were made on Thursday, Feb. 11.

The ongoing police crackdown on heroin continues as two New London men were arrested on drug-related charges Thursday, Feb. 11.

At approximately 3:25 p.m., members of the New London Police Department Vice and Intelligence Section arrested Eric Cherry, 33, and wearing the red shirt in the above photo, at 1 Farnsworth Street, apt. #2, New London.

He was arrested on the following charges:

  • Possession of Narcotics
  • Sale of Narcotics
  • Sale of Narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Officers seized 4.8 grams of heroin, marijuana, and $571 in U.S. currency, according to Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.

Nighttime Search and Seizure

At 10:09 p.m. Thursday, a search and seizure warrant, the result of an ongoing criminal investigation, was conducted at 74 Blackhall St., Apt. #3, New London.

Reichard said members of the New London Police Department Vice and Intelligence Section and the Detective Division found and seized heroin packaged for sale, crack cocaine packaged for sale, Oxycodone pills and Suboxone films, along with drug paraphernalia used to package and weigh narcotics.

According to the Suboxone website, Suboxone Film is a prescription medicine that contains the active ingredients buprenorphine and naloxone, used to treat adults who are dependent on opioids, either by prescription or illegally.

Tyron Johnson, 28, was arrested on the following charges:

  • Possession of Narcotics (X’s 4)
  • Sale of Narcotics (X’s 2)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
