The New London Police Union is proud to once again host its eighth annual "Pack the Paddy Wagon" holiday food drive this Saturday 10AM-5PM at Shop Rite Supermarket located at 351 North Frontage Road in New London to benefit the Gemma Moran /United Way Food Center.
The event is being coordinated by Sergeant Larry Keating and Officer Dustin Adkins who are donating their time and efforts to try and exceed last year's donation of over 3,800 lbs of food. Adkins a five year veteran of the police force stated, "we see firsthand how people have been affected by the economy and personal tragedy and realize that being able to provide a turkey with all the fixings for Thanksgiving can really make a difference in a person's life".
"To achieve our goal we ask that people stop by say hello and donate a turkey, non perishable food items or make a cash donation which we will use to buy supermarket gift cards to help needy families said Keating".
"The police union is proud supporter of many community events throughout the year and is glad to be able to make a positive impact with the people we serve this holiday season. With the generous help from the public we hope to make this our biggest donation ever to meet the growing needs of the Food Bank this year" said Chuck Flynn an executive board member.
