Man Wearing Badge Brandishes Handgun, Threatens Elderly Woman: Police
New London Police provided an update on an alleged home invasion that occurred on Friday, Dec. 11.

On Friday, Dec. 11, at approximately 9:40 a.m. New London Police responded to a residence in the upper Montauk Avenue area to investigate the report of an armed robbery.
“The elderly resident told police that a male, dressed in dark clothing and with an unknown type of badge affixed to his outer clothing, knocked on her door and then forced his way into the house while brandishing a handgun,” Deputy Chief Peter Reichard stated via a police report.
The victim told police that the man allegedly made threats against specific individuals related to local businesses that she is affiliated with, police said.

“The male was able to steal an undetermined amount of cash and other items from the house before fleeing the scene,” Reichard said. ”The female sustained minor injuries during the incident.”
The man was described as a Hispanic or white male with a light complexion and was seen leaving the area in a small, dark colored hatchback vehicle.

“Police believe this to be an isolated incident in which the suspect knew his victims,” police said.
The Town of Groton Patrol and Detective Division’s, as well as the Waterford Police Department, assisted in the investigation, which is ongoing.
