Spark Makerspace

In this class, you will learn 3D CAD modeling basics (using Onshape). Laptop required.
You will learn Parametric CAD basics in this class. Enjoy learning to design a 3D object! This class will take you through the basics of using Onshape CAD software.
Specific topics covered in the class:
<ul><li>Basic 2D sketching with constraints</li><li>Extrude</li><li>Revolve</li><li>Loft</li><li>Solid boolean operations (union, subtract difference)</li></ul>
Don't worry if you don't know these terms; this is a fun entry-level class! We'll teach you the lingo.
Each student must bring a laptop computer running modern Windows, Linux, or Mac OS and a real mouse. Doing CAD with a touchpad is next to impossible. Students must have Google Chrome browser installed.
This class is intended for students ages 16+

&amp; 1/26, 5:30-830p).
Beginner-Level Woodshop Class
Students will build a wooden cutting board. Students will start with mixed strips of wood and will glue, flatten, shape, groove, and finish the cutting board. This is a two-session class (1/19+1/26), and at the end of the second class, students will take their project home.
This class will provide tool certification for Spark Makerspace Members who demonstrate safe usage of the tools. (chop saw, router, &amp; planer). Because of the generous support of the Frank Loomis Palmer Fund, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, the price of our certification classes has been greatly subsidized. Making them more affordable to our membership.

Learn woodworking skills and build an adjustable desk lamp! For members: certification to jointer, planer, table saw
No prior woodworking experience is required.
Participants
 will build a jointed wooden arm lamp suitable for a workbench or 
desktop. No previous woodshop experience is required. All assembly will 
take place during the class, and participants will take home a fully 
functional method of illumination.
When taken home, the lamp will be bare wood, which can be painted, stained, clear-coated lamp, or left bare. 
As
 part of the class, participants will be given safety instructions on 
large woodworking tools, including the jointer, planer, and table saw 
(Spark members will receive certification check-offs). Additional tools 
used will include the miter saw, drill press, and bench sander.
18+
For Spark Members: After successful completion, members will be able to use the jointer, planer, and table saw (certification) independently. Thanks to generous grant support from the Frank Loomis Palmer Foundation, these classes are reduced in price.
Please
 note that the class fee is non-refundable unless it does not meet 
minimum enrollment. If this happens, you will be contacted 5 days ahead 
of time, refunded, and the class will be canceled.

Rustic-chic private farm venue in scenic Stonington, CT 

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy. The Farm has the ability to host small private indoor events for up to 50 guests in the Farmhouse.
