Caught Red Handed! Thief Caught During Bike Shop Burglary

New London Police officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at Terra Cyclery located at 154 Williams Street. Upon arrival officers observed the rear door had been forced open. Officers made entry and located a 14-year-old male hiding within the business.

Prior to their arrival the juvenile suspect had removed a bicycle from within the business and placed it outside. The juvenile suspect was also in possession of a sum of money believed to be taken from the cash register. The juvenile suspect also admitted to a previous burglary at this establishment, in August of 2013, during which two bicycles were reported stolen.

The juvenile suspect disclosed that those bicycles were within his mothers residence, they were also recovered. The juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd, Larceny 6th and Criminal Mischief 2nd.
