Child, 12, Struck By Car Released From Hospital: New London Police

Police shared new details Wednesday night concerning the accident involving a car and a pedestrian.

NEW LONDON, CT — A 12-year-old girl, who was struck by a car on Tuesday afternoon, has been released from the hospital, police said Wednesday night.

At 3:13 p.m. emergency crews responded to the area of 33 Ocean Ave. for a reported evading motor vehicle accident (car -vs- pedestrian) with injuries, police said.

Upon arrival, emergency service personnel located an injured juvenile laying in the roadway, police said.

A 12-year-old girl was conscious and taken to L+M Hospital for sustained injuries, police said. The juvenile has since been released from the hospital, police added.

"The offending vehicle initially fled the scene but made contact with police after the fact," police said in a news release. "The accident scene was immediately secured and members of the New London Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the accident.
