Coast Guard Band, Flock Theatre Team Up For Shakespeare Production

Nov. 18 concert will include performers from the New London theater

Flock Theatre will join the Coast Guard Band at a free concert this month to present scenes from William Shakespeare's plays alongside the music.

The concert will take place at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Leamy Hall on the campus of the Coast Guard Academy. Capt. Kenneth W. Morgan directs the band, while the program features "pieces which transport the audience to the exciting atmosphere of the Renaissance" and "serve as an escort through some of Shakespeare's most popular works."

The program will include Charles Gounod's "Juliet's Waltz" as performed by Musician First Class Megan Weikleenget, Edward Gregson's "The Sword and the Crown," and Eric Coates' "Knightsbridge March." Performers from Flock Theatre will present scenes from Shakespeare's plays throughout the concert.

For more information on the concert, call the Coast Guard Band’s concert information line at 860-701-6826 or visit the band's website.
