Condition Of Stabbing Victim Upgraded

New London Police Department continues to withhold names as fight at motorcycle club remains under investigation

The condition of a 27-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries in a weekend brawl at a downtown motorcycle club has improved, Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard said today.

The man was slashed across the abdomen with an edged weapon during the fight, which occurred at the Wild Style Motorcycle Club at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. He was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital for emergency surgery. Reichard said the man's condition has been upgraded to serious but stable.

Reichard said the names of four people injured in the incident are being withheld as detectives continue to interview victims and witnesses.

Also injured were a 28-year-old Guilford resident, who was struck in the head and face with a large wooden object; a 33-year-old New London man, who broke his leg while fleeing the scene; and a 31-year-old New London man, who suffered cuts to his ear and neck. These three people were treated and released over the weekend after going to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

The fight broke out inside the club, which is located in the rear of 130 Bank Street and has an entrance off South Water Street. The altercation extended to the club's parking lot and South Water Street.
