Daily Five: 68 Degrees, Riverside Park, Business Claims

Five things to know for April 9

1. Break out your shorts. Today's high temperature skyrockets to 68 degrees during a mostly sunny day, falling to 49 degrees overnight. Sunrise is 6:18 a.m., sunset is 7:23 p.m.

2. New London Landmarks continues its series of workshops on Riverside Park and Hodges Square, with tonight’s forum focusing on the park. The Education, Parks and Recreation Committee of the City Council suggested that landscape architects could make a determination in a dispute over relocating a playscape to the park at this meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Winthrop School.

3. The Public Library of New London hosts “Terrific Teen Tuesdays” on this day of the week, inviting students to study or have some creative fun at the library. This is open from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

4. Do you own a business in town? Head over to the Businesses section and click the Claim A Listing button on the left to get more control over customizing your appearance on the New London Patch.

5. It’s Martyrs’ Day in Tunisia, remembering those who fought for independence. The day commemorates the arrest of a nationalist party leader and the death of several protesters at a subsequent demonstration.
