5. Motown singer Marvin Gaye, perhaps best known for singles such as “What’s Going On,” “Heard It Through The Grapevine,” and “Let’s Get It On,” was born on this day in 1939. Gaye died one day before his 45th birthday after he was shot and killed during an argument with his father.
