5. President-elect Franklin L. Roosevelt literally dodged a bullet 80 years ago today. An assassin tried to shoot Roosevelt during a Miami visit in 1933 and hit five people instead (including Anton J. Cermack, mayor of Chicago, who died of his wounds the next month)
