1. Light snow and snow showers throughout the day, but the predicted accumulation is less than an inch. Strong winds occasionally gust over 50 miles per hour. The high temperature is 26 degrees, while the overnight low is 13 degrees. Sunrise is 6:40 a.m., sunset is 6:25 p.m.
2. The Sebastian Chamber Players play a selection of chamber music today at 1 p.m. at the Harkness Chapel. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors, and free for Connecticut College students, staff, and faculty.
3. Jan Schenk Grosskopf introduces here book, For Mischief Done, at 2 p.m. at the Custom House Maritime Museum. The book is based on the first murder trial to take place in the New London courthouse in 1786. Admission is $8 and free for New London Maritime Society members.

5. Jazz pianist Thelonious Monk, considered one of the most innovative and important musicians in the genre, died on this day in 1982. He was 64 years old.
