Daily Five: Tent Raising, Union Jack, Courtney Love

Five things to know for April 12

1. Rain's in the forecast again, and this time they're giving it a 100 percent probability; winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are also expected. The rain dwindles to showers overnight. Sunrise is 6:13 a.m., sunset is 7:26 p.m.

2. The Custom House Maritime Museum holds a Tent Raising Rum Tasting (say that five times fast) event tonight. Funds will go toward sewing a new lightweight tent cover for outdoor events. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and tickets are $20 for New London Maritime Society members and $25 for all others.

3. Courtney Love makes her museum debut tonight, featuring art alongside mentor Dave LaChapelle. The reception begins at 6 p.m. at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum. Admission is free to museum members and $10 for others.

4. Get a glimpse of upcoming musical performances each week with The Sounds of New London. This rounds up the concerts running from tonight through Thursday and posts at 5 p.m. every Friday.

5. Great Britain adopted the Union Jack for its flag on this day in 1606.
