Fire Forces Dozens From Apartment Building In New London, Reports Say

At least four people were injured in the fire at the Crocker House, a report said.

NEW LONDON, CT — A multi-alarm fire broke out at an apartment complex in New London on Saturday, displacing dozens of residents, according to a report.

Dozens of firetrucks responded to the Crocker House on Union Street, shutting down streets in the area, WFSB 3 reported.

Four people were taken to the hospital and at least two others, including a firefighter, were evaluated at the scene, The Day reported.

Authorities estimated at least 20 apartments, primarily on the second and third floors, had suffered some sort of damage, The Day report said. They were trying to determine whether any residents were going to be able to return to their apartments on Saturday night, the report said.

The Crocker House has 81 apartments consisting of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, according to an investment portfolio describing the property.

Firefighters from more than a dozen fire companies responded, the Norwich Firefighters Local 892 said, including those from New London, Waterford, Sub Base, Poquonnock Bridge, City of Groton, Electric Boat, Mystic, Old Mystic, Montville, Mohegan Tribe, Mashantucket, Gales Ferry, Preston and Guilford.
