First Thursday Poetry at Hygienic Art Galleries presents Kathleen McClung
Hygienic Art Gallery announces this Thursday's featured poet.

Kathleen McClung, recipient of the 2012 Rita Dove Poetry Award and Author of Almost the Rowboat (Finishing Line Press 2013), will read at the Hygienic Art Galleries on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 7pm.
Kathleen writes across genres. Her poetry, fiction, and memoir appear in a variety of print and online publications including The Healing Muse, Unsplendid, Bloodroot, Poets 11, PMS: poemmemoirstory, Poetry Now, Spirituality & Health, A Bird Black as the Sun: California Poets on Crows and Ravens, and elsewhere. She was selected by Naomi Shihab Nye as the National Winner of the 2012 Poetry Competition sponsored by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.
Other recent honors include prizes from the Chicagoland Poetry Contest, Portland Pen Poetry Contest, Memoirs Ink, Sacramento Poetry Center, and Robert Frost Foundation. Kathleen teaches literature and writing classes at Skyline College and the Writing Salon in the San Francisco Bay Area and coordinates the annual Women on Writing community event on the Skyline campus.
She serves as sponsor/judge of the sonnet category for the Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition and reviewer for the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing, sponsored by the Stanford University Libraries. Kathleen is a native of California.
