Man Fired Handgun Multiple Times: New London Police

Police responded to a shots-fired call Saturday night. Now a man is being held on a high bond.

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London man is facing gun charges after police found he fired multiple rounds Saturday night, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Connecticut Avenue and Pleasant Street at 11:22 p.m. on a report of shots fired. Police found evidence to support that report.

No injuries were reported.

Police said they then found Jayd Sanchez, 23, of New London, nearby with a handgun.

He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession of ammunition, illegal alteration of firearm identifiers, and interfering with police.

There was also a warrant out for his arrest for violation of probation, police said.

He was held on a combined $170,000 bond.
