Man In Prison For Brutal Killing Of Essex Victim Wants Out: Report

A man serving a prison sentence for a 1998 killing of an Essex man asked the court this week for a reduction in prison time.

ESSEX, CT — Gregory Pierre, 50, a former New London resident who is serving an 85-year sentence for killing an Essex man in 1998, is requesting to be released from prison, The Hartford Courant reported.

Pierre was convicted in a 2001 trial of felony murder, first-degree manslaughter, kidnapping, and robbery in the killing of James Connor, 33, of Essex, according to The Hartford Courant.

Connor, who was attempting to buy crack-cocaine, was robbed and beaten at Pierre's apartment in 1998 by Pierre and two other men.
