New London Board Of Ethics Requires More Members To Function
Departure of three people leaves board without a quorum

The New London Board of Ethics is looking to replenish its ranks after the departure of three member, which has left the board one person short of a majority needed to make findings on ethical issues.
The seven-member board, which develops ethical guidelines for municipal employees and officials and investigates ethics complaints against the same, is down to four people. Chairman K. Robert Lewis said the vacancies result from the resignation of Catherine Foley and Brian Geising as well as the death of Eunice Waller. Lewis requested help from the City Council in a letter to Council President Michael Passero.
"The Code of Ethics requires a vote of five members in the affirmative to reach a finding of probable cause should a complaint be received and investigated," Lewis said. "As currently constituted, the board is unable to perform its duties as codified by the Code of Ethics and the New London City Council."
