Today is the second week of the New London Challenge (formerly the Monday Challenge), and I'll start out by giving the answer to last week's question.
That post asked where in New London you can find a plaque dedicated in memory of those who served in the Spanish-American War, the Philippine insurrection, and the China Relief Expedition (an evacuation of foreign nationals during the Boxer Rebellion) between 1898 and 1902. Some readers got the right answer: on a hillside at the intersection of Williams Street and Crystal Ave., just outside the Coast Guard Academy.
More specifically, the plaque is located in a little patch of green known as McKinley Park. A large crowd attended its dedication by the George M. Cole Camp of the United Spanish War Veterans in September of 1934.
This week's question
The phrase "Time is a ship that never anchors" can be found on the side of a residence in New London. Who used to live in this home?
